Powering with Permanent Magnets, Leading the Oil & Gas Future

Beam Pumping Unit
Direct-Drive Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor

Semi-Direct-Drive PMSM for Beam Pumping Units

Key Features

Eliminates the traditional belt-drive method, optimizing and simplifying the drivetrain to the greatest extent, reducing mechanical losses and maintenance steps, and improving pumping unit efficiency and operational stability at the same time.
The permanent magnet synchronous design enables the motor to maintain high-efficiency operation under typical conditions, keeping the power factor stable in a high range, reducing reactive power losses, and improving overall electrical energy utilization.
Reduces well shut-in and downtime risk points within the drivetrain; delivers smoother operating curves and more precise control, helping improve effective stroke utilization and stabilize wellhead production performance.
Fewer transmission components and fewer wear parts make on-site installation and commissioning more straightforward, reducing inspection and maintenance complexity and lowering the probability of unplanned downtime.
The system’s comprehensive power-saving rate can reach 15%–20% (compared with traditional solutions; actual results depend on well conditions and process parameters), significantly reducing per-well energy costs in long-term operation.

Product Overview

The semi-direct-drive permanent magnet synchronous motor for beam pumping units is developed for long-term continuous oilfield operation, focusing on core on-site needs including “high efficiency, low losses, and reduced maintenance.” Through coordinated optimization of the electromagnetic scheme and structural system, the motor maintains smooth output even under low-speed, heavy-load conditions, reducing shock loads and vibration risks and providing a more reliable power foundation for pumping equipment.

Compared with the traditional solution of “motor + belt + reducer/transmission,” the semi-direct-drive structure significantly reduces transmission stages and the number of wear parts, effectively lowering hidden O&M costs caused by belt slippage, tensioning maintenance, and alignment commissioning, while improving overall system energy efficiency, making energy-saving benefits easier to realize and more sustainable.

The motor can be deeply matched with a VFD control system to enable fine adjustment of pumping unit speed and motion curves, supporting fast response and optimization under changing field conditions; while ensuring stable start/stop performance, it reduces unnecessary energy consumption and mechanical wear, improving controllability and stabilizing per-well production.

Overall, the semi-direct-drive permanent magnet synchronous motor provides a more efficient, compact, and reliable drive-upgrade pathway for oil & gas artificial lift equipment, and is an important direction for improving efficiency, reducing energy consumption, lowering maintenance, and enhancing long-term stable operation.
